Nurul Afiqah is a Clinical Psychologist Trainee at IMU University with experience working primarily with adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds. Her clinical experience includes supporting individuals presenting with emotional difficulties, stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, interpersonal concerns, attention-related difficulties, and emotional regulation concerns. She also has experience conducting psychological assessments using a range of cognitive, personality, and clinical assessment tools.
Afiqah is committed to walking alongside clients as they navigate past experiences and current struggles that may feel overwhelming. She strives to create a safe and non-judgemental therapeutic space where clients feel heard, understood, and accepted. In therapy, Afiqah values openness, gentleness, and trust in the therapeutic process. She believes that healing does not have to happen alone and hopes to support clients in navigating their journey at a pace that feels right for them.
Outside of her clinical training, Afiqah enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. In her free time, she loves karaoke, indulging in sweet treats, and watching horror movies or romantic comedy
Prior to her current practicum, Afiqah gained experience working with children in a preschool setting, which contributed to her interest in understanding individuals across different developmental stages. During her clinical training at the IMU Psychology Clinic, she further developed her skills in psychological assessment, case formulation, therapeutic intervention, risk management, and clinical documentation.
Afiqah primarily adopts a Person-Centred approach, as she believes that meaningful therapeutic work begins with building a genuine, safe, and non-judgemental relationship where clients feel comfortable being vulnerable and exploring their experiences. She also integrates approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) according to each client’s needs and clinical formulation. She values empathy, authenticity, respect, and collaboration, and is passionate about creating a therapeutic space where individuals feel heard, understood, and supported as they work towards meaningful change.
