Get to know Wei Shan

Wei Shan enjoys working with adults and adolescents navigating a wide range of mental health concerns.

She has supported individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodevelopmental differences, and gender or identity-related concerns. She is passionate about creating a safe and respectful space for everyone, including LGBTQ+ clients and those living away from their home countries.

Wei Shan has worked in psychological centres, non-profit organisation, and refugee clinic, where she had the opportunity to work with people from many different walks of life. These experiences have shaped her belief in the importance of cultural sensitivity and meeting clients where they are. She is also trained in conducting comprehensive psychological assessments across the lifespan, which can provide insights into a person’s strengths and challenges, and help guide treatment or support planning.

Wei Shan takes a person-centred approach to therapy, providing a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. She believes that each individual’s story is unique and tailors her approach to meet the client’s specific needs and goals. Part of her work involves gently guiding clients to better understand their thoughts, emotions, and needs, especially when these may feel unclear or overwhelming. Depending on what is most helpful, she draws from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Her aim is to support clients in exploring their experiences, building on their strengths, and working towards meaningful change at a pace that feels comfortable for them.

Beyond individual therapy, Wei Shan conducts talks and workshops for students (from primary to university level) and working adults on topics such as mental well-being, resilience, and managing stress. At the core of her work is a belief in collaboration and trust, where Wei Shan sees therapy as a shared journey, and she works alongside clients to help them find clarity, growth, and healing. She believes that mental health is health, and it is never too late (or too soon) to seek therapy.

In her free time, Wei Shan enjoys trying out new recipes in the kitchen and travelling to experience different cultures and scenery. She finds that both cooking and exploring new places offer fresh perspectives, spark creativity, and bring moments of joy outside of work.
